Educational Pastoral Training Workshop – Educational Foundation Network of the Diocese of Linares
On Thursday, January 8, all staff members at Liceo Bicentenario San Miguel Arcángel actively participated in the Pastoral Training Day organized by the Educational Foundation Network of the Diocese of Linares.
This important training session was held in two phases, designed to strengthen the pastoral identity and educational commitment of those who are part of our school communities.
First, we delved into Pope Leo XIV’s Letter on Education, a session of reflection led by our Bishop of Linares, Monsignor Tomislav Koljatic Maroevic. This stage highlighted the centrality of the person in the educational process, the value of education as an act of love and hope, and the shared responsibility to provide a holistic education for children and young people, from a Christian and humanizing perspective.
The second stage then addressed the topic“A Person-Centered Education”, led by Joaquín León Parodi, who holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family (University of Navarra) and is a researcher in the Philosophy of Education (University of the Andes). This presentation invited participants to reflect on the role of the educator as a companion in each student’s life journey, promoting an education that values the dignity, freedom, purpose, and vocation of every person.
During the event, it was emphasized that education goes beyond the transmission of content or behaviors, and that the true purpose of education lies in helping each person grow in a holistic way. From this perspective, the importance of a personalized education was highlighted—one based on authentic interpersonal relationships, where the educator guides students through freedom and personal example, helping each student discover who they are and who they are called to be.
The event concluded with a heartfelt tribute to staff members who, throughout 2025, stood out for their commitment and dedication to service, both individually and as a team. During this ceremony, awards were presented, including: Best Colleague from various departments and the 100% Attendance and Punctuality Award, recognizing their daily dedication and contribution to the school’s community life.
Finally, the gathering concluded with a friendly luncheon—a time for fellowship and connection—that strengthened the personal and pastoral bonds among the staff, thereby reaffirming the sense of community that inspires the educational mission of Liceo Bicentenario Colegio San Miguel Arcángel.
